Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out - Anime Review
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5 Stars)
Length: 12 Episodes

Released: April 24th 2020
So this was definitely not on my "next anime to binge" list but after reading a recommendation on our Blend-S review I decided to sit down and give this brand new anime with a notable love it or hate it reputation a go!.
From what I had heard through friends and social media, all I knew was that the show was about an annoying girl, being annoying. Looking further into it I noticed: cute hyper girl and handsome brooding college guy? The inner fujoshi in me could not resist seeing how this would play out!
Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out! is centered around the two main characters: the loud, charismatic, and bold Uzaki Hana and the "loner type" Sakurai Shinichi. This lighthearted story is based around Uzaki persistently trying to hang out with her Senpai throughout the college year. This often consists of her picking on Sakurai which drives him mad or inviting herself to hang out with him which he relunctantly allows.
What starts out as a one-sided endeavor, the relationship begins to grow over time and Sakurai slowly begins to show his sweet and caring side to Uzaki.
The show is hilarious and full of your classic accidental sexual innuendo gags that got me laughing every time! Absolutely so funny and not at all what I was expecting with all I knew about the show going in that it was "about an annoying girl". I'm not going to go into the jiggle physics but the big booby gags are a plentiful and are for sure not for the young or those with heart conditions.
The OP is fun and memorable and I found myself never skipping through! My favorite part that gets me every time is the scene in the opening where the Asai family are characteristically eating rice as they do throughout the show when juicy romantic situations are presented to them. Too good!
The animation and character design is great for the style of lighthearted comedy and I have a personal deep love for Uzaki's snaggle tooth! It fits in so well with her impish nature!
I'm absolutely in love with this anime and it put me in such a good mood to watch the gags, the serious moments, and the overall character development of our protagonists!
I think it's also important to note that for me as a extroverted westerner a lot of things Uzaki was doing that were perceived as rude or annoying by her peers appeared to be based in Japanese culture and expectations that didn't always translate well.
In conclusion I score Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out! a 5 out of 5 and would definitely recommend for fans of comedy, tsunderes, and SUGOI DEKAI...!
